Championnat de Bâle

Discreet performance at the Golf Club Basel for the Championnat de Bâle 2023 (3/4 June).

A difficult course with high roughs that ate up the ball and very hard and very fast greens where it was impossible to stop the ball. I had to adapt my game but still couldn’t perform as well as I would have liked on a course I know well and love. A steady 77 (+5) accompanied me for all three rounds of the tournament, which I finished in 8th place.

Gran Premio Vecchio Monastero

A good tournament in Italy last week end at the Varese Golf Club for the Gran Premio Vecchio Monastero, a FIG tournament valid for the WAGR (28 to 30 May 2023).

The start was uphill with a disappointing 76 (+4) due to some problems on my long game. Excellent recovery in the second round with a good 71 (-1) allowed me to pass the cut and enter the final 36 holes. I played a solid game with two rounds in par and closed the tournament in seventh position.

3T Camp

It was a great experience to participate with the national team boys in the 3T camp for young talents (Tous le Talents à Tenero/Talents Treff Tenero or 3T) organised by Swiss Olympic from 14 to 19 May at the Tenero Sports Centre.

The 500 best Swiss junior athletes were there, divided into 27 sports.
It was a good week of training, but I also had the opportunity to practise other sports and to attend several workshops on aspects related to competitions: entertainment in the media, how best to manage competitions, and how to recover from efforts.

Thanks to Swiss Golf and Swiss Olympic for this opportunity!

Grand Prix d’Aix-Marseille – Coupe Yves Caillol

From England to the South of France to play the Coupe Yves Caillol at Golf Aix-Marseille!
Optimal weather and course conditions.
The first round was disappointing, +5 playing +4 in the par 5s that are usually my strong points. I was very motivated and the par in the second round allowed me to pass the cut and get into the field for the final round where I was able to perform better and with a -2 I finished the tournament in fourth position.
I’m happy with my mental toughness and ready to get back into the game!

Fairhaven Golf Trophy

Playing on a links has an incredible charm!
I have just returned from England where I played the Fairhaven Golf Trophy.
Fairhaven Golf Club is a historic English links course, which is definitely challenging. The whole course was very firm and it was really hard to stop the ball on the green plus many small bunkers scattered everywhere, difficult greens. We got really lucky with the weather for the first 2 days but as expected the bad tipical british weather arrived for the last 2 rounds. It was very fun and challenging to fight with the course and the weather.
The tournament was played over 72 holes with a cut after 36 (34 players out of 122). I played very solid the first 3 rounds, I had a great finish on my second round with a great birdie on the last to be sure to make the cut by 2 shots .Unfortunately the last round was one to forget. I ended the tournament in 31st position (+3/+1/+2/+7).
I am disappointed but also proud about my tournament in England, and I am ready to start again next weeked in the south of france.

Winter National Training Camps

Infinitum Golf Club – Spain – Winter 2023

The technical preparation for 2023 is already in full swing!

Indeed, together with the Swiss National Team Boys, I spent two intense but stimulating weeks in Spain at the Infinitum Golf Club, this February.

The days began early! At 7 :15 am we were already at the gym, and after a workout me spent the entire day on the golf course.

Moreover, every day we performed targeted training to strengthen our game, improve our short game and become snipers in putting.

On top of that, the first week we have been delighted to work with a short game guru: coach V. Gustavson, who works with many athletes on Tour. It was extremely motivating and inspiring to learn from a such qualified pro!

During this time in Spain, we also played the qualifying rounds of the Switzerland-Germany-Italy-Sweden quadrangular to be held at the end of March in Geneva.

I admit that I could have performed better, but I am still happy that I was able to qualify to play the quadrangular.

Last but certainly not least, a big thanks to Swiss Golf for the opportunity of spending two weeks of great golf is warm weather!!

Hello Amateur Golf Ranking!

Golf Gams Werdenberg – 22/23 October 2022

The season is coming to an end, but it is doing so with fireworks for me!

Indeed, last weekend, the first Race to WAGR was held on the Gams Werdenberg course (St. Gallen).

I finished the first round 1-under par, but in the second round I was on fire! I finished 67 (-5), which got me 1 off the lead.

The last round was great. The leader and I played it on equal terms in a fantastic crescendo.

Finally, the birdie on the last hole enabled me to end the tournament in the lead with -7, winning by one stroke.

So, to sum it up, after 3 exciting rounds I was victorious and entered the prestigious WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking).

A big thank you to my coaches, Emanuele De Giorgi and Richard Adby, who guided and accompanied me through my training, allowing me to arrive at the tournament in top technical form. The preparation with my fitness coach really made the difference on the last couples of holes, which I wouldn’t have been able to sustain without it. But above all, thank you to my performance coach Ian Pick, who followed me on the last day and with whom I prepared the competition to the best of my ability.
